Strolling down Taraval on a crisp Sunday morning, I noticed Antigua out of the corner of my eye. I had a good experience at their sister operation on Grand Avenue in South San Francisco a while back (review: https://bit.ly/40VVnKw) and thought I could pick up some caffeine here for my walk to the beach. What struck me about both locations is how low profile they are with no evidence of the self-aggrandizing approach other businesses might take to push their products. The downside though is that I keep forgetting they actually make food including a variety of breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and bagels. Looking dark and rather empty through the front window, the shop only had a little sandwich board just mentioning their food, and hey, had I known... But regardless, I was fine with their $4.50 Matcha Tea Latte, a satisfying elixir that hit my gullet with warm delight (photo: https://bit.ly/40RFLI0). I just think they could do a little more marketing. COFFEE - 4 stars...a well above average matcha latte AMBIANCE - 3 stars...clean but kinda dark and no one behind the counter when I first entered SERVICE - 3.5 stars...quietly efficient TOTAL - 4 stars...show off a little more, Antigua RELATED - Exploring the Sunset?
